Written in the 1840’s as a domestic guidebook for American women, and filled with much common sense for anyone interested in structuring and maintaining a healthy, functional household. The author, Catherine Ester Beecher, was the sister of abolitionist Harriet Beecher Stowe. Beecher is considered the originator of Home Economics.
