Kate Ledogar

paints canvases, small and large, inspired by dogs, people, and the ever-moving world around her. Heroes include Fairfield Porter, John Singer Sargent, Thomas Cole, Alice Neele, Christopher Alexander, Jeremy Foss, Tove Jansson, William Wegman, the many artists in her own family and Barclay Hendricks, who was her teacher and advisor, and often challenged her with the assessment that her painting was “too good not to be better.” She is still working on that.

Kate has owned a gallery, directed an art center, written art criticism for a Boston weekly and taught art to students of all ages (2 to 101, so far). She has an MFA from Mass College of Art.

Her paintings are featured in private collections in the United States, Denmark, Spain and Australia.
